My Colours of the Year
Every year we see Colours of the Year announced across fashion and interiors. They often reflect what is already gaining momentum in design. What they do not always reflect is how colour behaves on real people.
That is why I create my own Colours of the Year.
These are not trend predictions. They are carefully chosen shades for each sub season that feel relevant, wearable and easy to shop, while still being flattering and supportive.
When I select a Colour of the Year for each sub season, I am looking for three things.
First, it must enhance the natural colouring of that season. There is no point choosing something fashionable if it does not actually make you look better.
Second, it needs to add something interesting to your wardrobe. Many of my clients already have strong core neutrals. A Colour of the Year should feel like a fresh injection of life rather than more of the same.
And third, it needs to be shoppable. I deliberately look at what is appearing in stores. There is little value in recommending a shade that is impossible to find.
The result is a collection of colours that feel current, but never forced. Interesting, but still practical.
Why This Matters
One of the most common things I hear from clients is, “I don’t want to get it wrong.”
Colour can feel high stakes. Especially if you have spent years wearing black, navy or beige because they felt safe.
A Colour of the Year gives you a starting point. It is not about replacing your entire wardrobe. It is about introducing one shade that you know works for you.
That might look like a knit, a blouse, a pair of trainers, a handbag or even a lipstick. Small, intentional additions can shift how your whole wardrobe feels.
Colour Should Feel Wearable
You will notice that my Colours of the Year are rarely extreme. They are not gimmicks. They are not shock value shades.
They are colours that I can see my clients realistically wearing.
Some may feel like a subtle step forward. Others may feel like a bolder choice, depending on where you are in your colour journey. Both are valid.
The goal is not transformation overnight. The goal is confidence built gradually.
You Do Not Have to Wear Them
This is important.
Your Colour of the Year is an invitation, not an instruction.
If it excites you, explore it. If it feels like too much right now, come back to it later. Colour confidence grows with exposure and experience.
Some clients adopt their Colour of the Year immediately. Others incorporate it slowly through accessories before moving into clothing. Both approaches work.
A Personal Note
Choosing these colours each year is one of my favourite parts of what I do.
I think about the women I see every week. The conversations we have about confidence, identity and expression. I think about how colour can support you quietly in everyday life, not just for special occasions.
If one of these shades helps you feel a little brighter, a little more put together, or a little more yourself, then it has done its job.
If you are unsure of your season, or would like guidance on how to wear your Colour of the Year, you are always welcome to get in touch.
Colour should feel supportive. Not stressful.
